Sharon E. Pihlgren, age 72 of Bloomfield, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019. The daughter of Anthony and Regina (Downey) Bucchirie, she was born in New York City and moved to Bloomfield in 1979.
Sharon retired as a medical service operator for Co-Operative Communications Answering Service in Belleville.
Sharon was an avid bowler, being a member of the Good Old Friends League and Olympic Brunswick Lanes of Belleville. She supported many charities, especially concerning animal welfare.
The beloved wife of the late George C. Pihlgren, Sharon is survived by her sons, David M. Pihlgren and his wife Margarita, and James M. Pihlgren and his wife Victoria; her sister, Catherine Hayes; and her grandchild, Aviva R. Pihlgren. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
The funeral service will be on Friday at Friday July 5, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 3-7pm.
The cremation and entombment of her urn at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the World Wildlife Fund, 1250 24th Street, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20037, would be preferred.
