Daniel Russell Sierchio, Ed. D., 67




Daniel R. “Big D” Sierchio passed away at Morristown Memorial Hospital on March 7, 2010.

His family was his life. Raised in Nutley, Dan lived in East Hanover for the past 34 years. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as air traffic controller for Air Force One at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. Dan was a proud member of the St. Mary’s Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps at St. Mary's Church, Nutley and was a Little League coach in East Hanover. A graduate of St. Mary’s School, Nutley and Queen of Peace High School, N. Arlington, Mr. Sierchio received a B.A. with honors at the University of Maryland in 1971, an M.B.A. at Seton Hall University in 1975, a Master of Arts in Education at Columbia University in 1993 and his Ed. D. in Education at Rutgers University in 2000. He was a professor and had his own company, eLearn, an online education site. He had previously been with PNC bank for 30 years and was the president of the American Institute of Banking.

Dan was the beloved husband of Carol E. (Graeven) Sierchio, devoted father of Cara Sierchio Bogash and her husband, Chris and Daniel D. Sierchio and his wife, Deborah, brother of Maria Sierchio, Adele Esposito, Marion Frank, Jackie, George and Russell Sierchio and beloved "Nonni X4" of Samantha and Gianna Bogash and Danny and Demiana Sierchio.

He is now and will always be - our teacher, our peacemaker, our leader, our organizer, our patriarch, our friend, our Nonni, our father, our husband, our love - our Dan.

The funeral will be on Thursday at 8:45 AM from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley, with a funeral mass celebrated at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Roseland at 10 AM. The entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday 3-5 & 7-9 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Disabled American Veterans will be appreciated.

 

 




Joseph D. Cuccolo, 31

Joseph D. Cuccolo of Nutley died March 7, 2010. Born in Livingston, he lived in Irvington and Newark before moving to Nutley.

He is survived by his father; Joseph Cuccolo, his mother; Judy (England) Cuccolo, his brothers; Chris Cuccolo and William England, his sister; Melissa Masker, his maternal grandmother; Barbara England, and his aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday 4-6pm, with a memorial service at 5:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be accepted by his brother, Chris Cuccolo.
