Obituary for Adelina Magro (Doganiero)
Adelina Magro (Doganiero), 67, of Belleville, New Jersey passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023,
surrounded by her family, after a short but brave battle with cancer. Adelina, lovingly known as
Lina to family and friends, was born in Frosolone (IS), Molise, Italy. She immigrated to the
United States with her family in search of the American Dream.
Lina was an amazing selfless soul who loved to host and cook for family and friends. True to her
Italian-American roots, she was a mastermind in the kitchen and garden. Her home was always
open to those in need of a meal, advice, comfort and laughter. Her perseverance and grit helped
establish Paving by Al’s Contracting where she worked as an administrative assistant until
retiring in 2021. However, her greatest accomplishment was being called Nonna and helping to
raise her grandson Gil Luciano.
Lina is predeceased by her beloved parents Felice and Angela (Zampini) Doganiero. She is
survived by her loving husband Alfredo, daughters MariaTeresa Shawger and husband Robert,
Angela Magro and partner Gil Barbosa, grandson Gil Luciano, sister Teresa Francescone and
husband Pasquale, sister Silvana Doganiero-Ianiro and husband Francesco. She is also
survived by her many cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and her amazing
friends who were and will always be considered family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebtated at St. Mary's Church, Nutley at 10:30am.
Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, Nutley, NJ on Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 4-8pm.
Family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s
