Alfonso R. Couce, of Newark, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018. Born in Oriente, Cuba, the son of the late Dolores “Lola” (Alcalde) & Rafael Couce, he lived in Cuba prior to moving to Newark in 1970. He retired as a machine operator from Walter Kidde in Belleville.
The beloved husband of the late Mariblanca (Jimenez) Couce, he is survived by his sons, Julio Couce & his wife, Lazara, Raul Couce & his wife, Melanie, Rolando Couce & his wife, Margarita Cohello and Pepin Cutino; four grandchildren, Kristen, John-Paul, Joshua & Jonathan Couce and his sister, Elsa Couce. Alfonso was predeceased by his brother, Rafael.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St., Nutley.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church in Belleville at 11:15 a.m.
The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
