Obituary for Anne E. Rotonda

Retired Director of the Special Young Adults of Nutley


Anne E. Rotonda, 65, of Nutley, passed away on August 21, 2021. Born in Newark, NJ she was a lifelong resident of Nutley, NJ. The daughter to the late James J. and Elizabeth M. (Fraser) Rotonda. She was predeceased by her two fur babies Rocky and R.J. She leaves behind her brother James V. Rotonda. Anne was a graduate of Kean College with a degree in special education, was active with the Nutley Relay for Life, was the Italian Woman of the Year, and was a recipient of the Mattia Award, the Four Chaplain’s Award and The Eternal Flame Award for the Relay for Life in 2014, plus she received many other awards and certificates.

Anne was the Director of Nutley Special Young Adults (SYA) for nearly 40 years, also the Director of the Respite Program. In that time, she encouraged, supported, and most of all loved, special young adults, and made them all feel important.

Anne was the captain for one of Nutley Relay for Life's teams, appropriately called "Annie's Courage." With her in the captain's chair, that team raised tens of thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society.
Annie as she was fondly referred to received, the Department of Public Affairs Women’s Advocacy Award for her work with SYA in 2017.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 17 Monsignor Owens Place, Nutley, NJ on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 10:30am. All visitors are directed to go directly to church.

The entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, August 26. 2021, from 4-8pm.
