Obituary for Antoinette Stellatella (Capacchione)

Antonia “Antoinette” Stellatella, 88 of Nutley, passed away on Monday, February 8th, 2021 at her home. Born in Barletta, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Ruggiero and Angela (Riefolo) Capacchione. Mrs. Stellatella was a loving devoted caring mother/grandmother and was always seen wearing a huge smile. Antonia came to America in 1956 settling in Nutley, NJ. She loved the town of Nutley and its people just as much as she loved her hometown in Italy. Antonia loved eating and cooked extravagant Italian meals. Her Italian roots was what she cherished. She also enjoyed watching judge Judy and American football. She loved living at the Nutley Senior housing building where everyone there treated her as family. She was a friend to many.

Predeceased by her husband, Michael “Mike” Stellatella and her beloved son Louis “Louie” Stellatella. Antonia is survived by her loving devoted daughter, Colette Stellatella, and her boyfriend, Jack Silva, who Mrs. Stellatella referred to as her son-in-law and she adored his daughters Cassandra and Amanda. She is also survived by her daughter Michele Porcino and her wonderful ex-son in law Gregory Bartelloni. Mrs. Stellatella had 3 extremely devoted grandchildren that she adored from Michele’s union with Greg; named Nikkiann, Greg and Jovanna. She also had a grandchild Elizabeth from her son Louis. She is also survived by Gary Person who wasn’t blood related but she thought of as another son and referred to him as just that. Antonia had three wonderful home health aides who cared for her throughout the years their names are Tina Nguyen of Nutley who was there with her in death; Kathleen Frazier of Newark and Wanda Stokes of Newark they are outstanding individuals and deserve special recognition. She was the dear sister of Nunzia “Nancy” IlGrande, Anna Palmitessa, the late Carmen, Rafaele, Savino, Angelo and Damiano Cappachione and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her and nephews were a special part of her life and gave her great joy. It was as if they too were her children. She loved them that much.

Visitors will be received at S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley on Friday, February 12, 6-9pm.

The Funeral will begin from the funeral home on Saturday at 8:30 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church at 9:30 am followed by burial at Hollywood Cemetery in Union.

Flowers and/or Donations will be accepted at the funeral home.
