Obituary for Barton J. Rossi

Barton J. Rossi, lifelong resident of Belleville, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020. Born and raised in Belleville, Bart was the son of the late Michele and Raffaela (Barbone) Rossi. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving as a sergeant in the Korean War. He spent 32 years on the Belleville Police Department, retiring as Detective in 1991.
Bart was also a member of the V.F.W. and PBA Local #28, both of Belleville.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carole (Hutmaker) Rossi; his cherished daughters, Cheryl (Ruben), Christine (Mark), and Cathy (Tim); his “greatest joys”, grandchildren, Emily, Adam, and Carly, whom he loved spending time with; many loving nieces and nephews, and of course, the Galante family. Along with his parents, Barton was predeceased by his 8 siblings.


The funeral will be Monday, October 19th at 9:30am from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Belleville at 10:30am.

The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, October 18th from 1-4pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, ww5.komen.org or the Wounded Warrior Project, www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org would be appreciated.
