Obituary for Calvin Jefferson "Pete" Postlewait

Calvin J. “Pete” Postlewait, 84 of Nutley, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023.
Born on January 30, 1938 in Mountain Grove, Missouri, he was the son of the late William Wade and Mabel (Nevels) Postlewait. At age 9 he and his family relocated to Milton-Freewater, Oregon where he lived until enlisting in the U.S. Army at age 17. He met his future wife, Linda Ibbott Postlewait, while stationed at the anti-aircraft utility base, Camp Nutley. Calvin and Linda were married in 1959 and together raised a daughter and a son in Belleville.

He retired in 2010 after a long career as a mechanical engineer in the precious metals plating industry. He also owned and operated an auto body repair shop, P.S. Auto Body, in Belleville. Calvin loved entertaining his many friends in his ever-evolving “man cave.” He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping, fishing and antiquing. Calvin’s pride and joy was the 300 year-old Verona farmhouse which he and Linda spent many years lovingly restoring.

Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his brother, Mancel Postlewait and his nephew, Mark Strickland. He is survived by his longtime partner, Kathy Dragos, his daughter, Heidi Postlewait, his son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Cindy (Vorrius) Postlewait, along with 3 granddaughters, Hannah, Madison, and Athena Postlewait, and his sister, Betty Wales. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Gini Davis, with whom he had a special bond, and his partner’s daughters and their spouses, Rachael and Olivier Alipui, and Karla and Mike Polifrone, and his step-grandchildren, Adeline, Benjamin and Olivia Alipui, and Elisabeth and Emma Polifrone.
