Obituary for Carmine "Slatts" Sorice

Loving Son, Brother, and Uncle

Carmine (Slatts) Sorice, 66 of Belleville, passed away Thursday December 3, 2020. Born in Newark, Carmine was the son of the late Anthony and Emanuella “Tootsie” (Muscara) Sorice. He retired as a Custodian for Newark Board of Education. He was a member of The Garside Street Social Club and The Bloomfield Ave Social Club.
Carmine is survived by his brother Anthony Sorice Jr. and his wife Cynthia, his sister Maryann Carroll and her husband Ray; many loving nieces and nephews, a great-niece and great-nephews.

Carmine loved being with his family. He loved The First Ward, St. Lucy's Church, St. Gerard's Feast, oldies music, a cappella and most of all, he loved passing time with his life-long friends of 60+ years, which consisted of them breaking bread, drinking wine, smoking cigars and playing cards...... "Carmine, get the cards!"


The funeral will be Thursday, December 10th at 9:30am from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Lucy’s Church in Newark at 10:30am.

The interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 9th from 4-8pm.
