Obituary for Columbia L. Matyko (Panigrosso)
Columbia L. Matyko, resident of Nutley, NJ, peacefully passed away at the age of 95 on April 28, 2020. She was born December 12, 1924 to Philip and Geraldine Panigrosso of Newark, NJ.
Born and raised in Newark’s Old First Ward, Columbia married her childhood sweetheart John Matyko after his naval service in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Some of their favorite memories together were trips to Puerto Rico. Following John’s passing after 41 years of marriage, Columbia moved to Nutley.
Columbia was a lifelong devotee of Saint Gerard, Saint Lucy’s Church in Newark, NJ. Her passion for the Saint was unflinching.
Columbia is survived by her two daughters Lorraine Meola and husband George and Carol Paravati and husband Victor, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Over the years she thoroughly enjoyed the many family excursions to Disney World while sharing rides with her four grandchildren.
Columbia was loved and will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be privately held at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, NJ.
