Obituary for Deborah A. Perna
Loving Mother, Sister, Niece, Cousin and Friend
Deborah A. Perna, 59, of Morganville, NJ passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, after an extremely courageous two year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Newark, NJ on June 8th 1964, Debbie was raised and spent most of her adult life in Belleville, NJ. She then moved to South Jersey to be closer to the shore area, which she loved so much. Debbie enjoyed taking care of her cats, working in her garden, decorating her yard, as well as building and fixing up different areas of her house. She also loved collecting nautical items, especially lighthouses, but really anything that involved being down the shore.
Debbie was the daughter of the late John Jr., and Rita (Luongo) Van Houten. She is survived by her loving daughter Melissa Perna, her brother John Van Houten, his wife Angela, niece Jackie, and nephews, John, Joseph and James. Debbie is also survived by her Aunt Linda, Uncle Tony and many cousins who all loved and cared for her very much. Debbie was fortunate and had so many special friendships, but she especially cherished her relationship with her best friend Laura of 38 years.
Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley, Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 2 – 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Melissa Perna would be very much appreciated. These funds will be used towards medical and burial expenses.
