Obituary for Donald R. Campana

Loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather & Friend

Donald R. Campana, 85, life-long Nutley resident, passed away Saturday August 29, 2020. Born in Newark, Donald was the son of the late Dino and Geraldine (Veniero) Campana. He retired as a Routeman for Jersey Journal in Jersey City, being employed there for over 35 years. Donald was a life member of the Nutley Elks Lodge # 1290. He was also former coach of the Nutley: American Little League, Senior League, and Basketball Recreation League. An avid horseshoe player, Donald enjoyed vacationing down at the Jersey Shore and in Aruba. He enjoyed watching the Reds and Raiders along with his son Tim. He relished a good cigar.

The beloved husband of the late Gladys A. (Grady) Campana, Donald is survived by his children, Lori Zakrzewski, Don J. Campana and his wife Magi, Timothy Campana, and Tammy Zito and her husband Joe; brothers, Fred Campana and his companion Stephanie, and Robert Campana and his wife Patti; sister-in-laws, Jackie, Beverly, Judy, and Bev; 4 grandchildren, Shannon, Tommy, Ally, and Katie; 2 great-grandchildren, Adriana and Jackson; and his life-long friends, Dick and Dee.


The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd at 9:30am from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Make-A-Wish foundation, www.wish.org, would be appreciated.
