Obituary for Doris Liloia (Toriglio)
Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother
Doris M. Liloia, 98, of Sewell, NJ passed away on June 21, 2022. Born in Jersey City, she grew up in Kearny and raised her family in Nutley, where she lived for 42 years. Doris was the daughter of the late Michael and Julia (Tirelli) Toriglio. She was predeceased by her loving husband Peter Liloia, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Peter Liloia III and his wife Marialana, and Michael P. Liloia and his wife Dawn, grandchildren Alexandra Liloia-Bishop and her husband David Bishop, Alainna Liloia, Peter Liloia IV and his wife Marley Liloia, Michelle Liloia Hodgins and her husband James Hodgins, Madison Liloia, and Nicholas Liloia.
Upon graduation from Kearny High School, Doris worked as a secretary at Western Electric. She met her husband Peter there when he was working as an engineer on a construction project. Peter walked into her office one day with a twenty-dollar bill sticking out of each ear and asked her out on a date. For some reason, she accepted! They were married for 59 years.
Doris loved spending time with her sons and their wives and her beloved grandchildren. They made many trips together to the Jersey Shore, the Poconos, Ocean City, MD and Laguna Beach, CA.
Visiting will be from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley, NJ on Monday June 27, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. There will be a service to celebrate Doris’s life at 12 noon at the funeral home.
The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
