Obituary for Doris Pratko (Seltzer)
Loving Mother & Grandmother
Doris Pratko, 87, of Nutley, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2020, surrounded by her loving children at the Montclair Care Center in Montclair. Doris was born on June 1, 1932 in Newark, the daughter of Albert and Lillia (Russell) Seltzer. She graduated from Barringer High School in 1950. She met and married Frank Pratko, started a family, and moved to Nutley where she and Frank raised two children, Frank and Debbie. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest joys were her cherished family and Nutley home. She loved preparing dinners and having family gatherings.
Doris is predeceased by her loving husband Frank after 62 years of marriage and her sister Jeanne Space. She was the loving mother of Frank Pratko and his fiancée Marie, and Deborah Sharkey and her husband, Tom. She loved spending time with her four grandchildren, Frank M. Pratko and his wife, Kelly, Christa Pratko, Shara Pratko and her fiancé, Eric Brooks, and Thomas C. Sharkey. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, February 11, at Grace Episcopal Church, 200 Highfield Lane, Nutley at 10:30 AM.
The entombment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St., Nutley on Monday from 3-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Nutley Emergency & Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 172, Nutley, NJ 07110 would be appreciated.
