Obituary for Dorothy Bogdanowicz

Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother

Dorothy Bogdanowicz, 94, a longtime resident of Bloomfield, NJ passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday morning 1/11/2020. Dorothy was born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania to Katherine and John Miedlar on September 18,1925. She was the oldest of 5 children.
Dorothy was a hardworking, single mom that raised four children. She worked as a waitress and later a secretary for Egan and Sons working until the age of 74. Dorothy was known for her great sense of humor and wittiness. Her laughter would light up a room with happiness. She was a woman of integrity, a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend.
She is predeceased by her husband Charlie, her son James Dougherty, two sisters Helen Dempsey and Loretta Klach and her brother Anthony Miedler. She is survived by her three children Ken Dougherty, Laura Dougherty and Karen Gyetvay. Her brother Edward Miedlar and two sister-in-law’s Fran Meidlar and Phyllis Miedler, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley at 10 a.m..

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Valentine’s Church in Bloomfield at 11 a.m.

The interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 14 between 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Commission for the Blind would be appreciated.
