Dorothy A. Macieski, aged 93 of Nutley, died peacefully on August 19, 2018 at Oakland Care Center surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born on Valentine’s Day in 1925, in Wilkes Barre PA, the daughter of Anna & Walter Dworkowski.
Dorothy attended schools in Miners Mill, PA and graduated from Coughlin High School in 1942. After the war she met, and in 1946 married, the love of her life Walter. Not only were Dorothy & Walter partners in marriage but together they opened a sewing machine center call The Home Craft Shop in Dickson City, PA which they operated successfully until 1955.
In 1955 Dorothy moved to Nutley as Walter decided to partner with his brothers in their family business, The MAC Products Co. on Grant Ave. They bought their first home on Walnut St. where they raised their daughter, Laura.
Dorothy’s business experience brought her to Newark where she managed the Millenary Department in Kresge’s and then to her last job as manager of Hastrietter’s Jewelry store.
In her free time Dorothy enjoyed her family, sewing, crafting, dancing and traveling. She was the first to help anyone in need and was always available for support, advice and some fun.

They also loved theater & concerts with traveling friends. In addition Dorothy joined her husband and they were active in the Nutley and Belleville AARP, The Nutley Old Guard and St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus.
