Obituary for Douglas T. Conaway
Loving Husband, Father, Brother, and Grandfather
On December 14, 2022, Douglas T. Conaway of Clifton, New Jersey peacefully passed away at St. Joseph’s University Hospital at the age of 78.
Doug Conaway was born November 7, 1944, in Newark, NJ and raised in Nutley, NJ. He was a graduate of Nutley High School, Class of 1962. Doug also graduated from Montclair State College. He was enlisted in the Army as a Spec 5, military policeman from 1966-1968 and stationed in Germany. Doug worked as a Store manager for Good Deal, Stop & Shop, Foodtown Supermarkets and retired from Shop Rite Supermarkets in 2008. He enjoyed being a proud member of the North Jersey Corvette Club.
He is predeceased by his father Douglas W. Conaway, mother Dorothy S. Conaway. and brother Jeffery Conaway. Doug is survived by his wife of 42 years Corraine Conaway, three children and their spouses, Cheryl Hemmerich (James), Karen C. Bogler (Brian), Chet O’Brien, sister Deborah Downey (John) and nine wonderful grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:30am from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Andrews, 400 Mt. Prospect Avenue, Clifton, NJ at 10:30am
The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 4-7pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Douglas to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
