Obituary for Edmund G. Olson Jr.
Dedicated School Teacher & Coach
Edmund G. Olson, Jr., 76 of Nutley, passed away on Sunday December 13, 2020. Born in Hollywood, CA, he was the son of the late Edmund, Sr. and Gloria (Herbrecht) Olson. Edmund was raised in Harrison, he served as an acolyte at Christ Episcopal Church and came to Nutley in 1975. Mr. Olson was a dedicated teacher and coach serving in Nutley for 35 years before retiring. After graduating from Jersey City State University, he taught 6th Grade at Washington School, coached the Nutley Raiders Traveling 7th & 8th grade basketball team. He was also the director of the Washington School aftercare program, was a board member of the Township’s Juvenile Council and enjoyed playing softball and basketball with the local men’s leagues.
He is survived by his dear sisters, Gale Olson and Michelle Reid and her wife, Christina Graw and his niece Madison.
A Memorial Service and committal at Grace Episcopal Church in Nutley will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Mr. Olson may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
