Edmund M. Reilly, Nutley Army Veteran

Edmund M. Reilly, a long time Nutley resident, 57 years, died on April 2, 2023, after a short illness at the West Caldwell Care Center. He was 92 years old. Ed/Eddie was born and raised in New York City to Anna L. Peragine and Edmund F. Reilly, a NYC Police Officer. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx. For a short time, he worked in an ad agency before he enlisted in the NYC National Guard from 1951 – 1953. He then re-enlisted into the U.S. Army with the rank of Sgt. 1953 – 1955. He was honorably discharged with honors. 1955 was the start of his career in the advertising world in New York City. He worked at several different ad agencies throughout the years and in 1981 opened in his own agency, Edmund Michaels Ltd. on 44th St, NYC. Ed retired in 2004 from AT&T in Morristown, NJ as Manager of Production and Marketing Communications.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife, Regina of 63 years, his loving daughter, Eileen Reilly, and two sons-in-law, Edward J. Bennett and Gary M. Weber. He is predeceased by his sister, Lillian Maguire (June 2013) and his daughter, Sharon E. Weber (June 27, 2011) and recently his oldest daughter, Maureen A. Bennett (December 15, 2022).
Ed was a true New Yorker, he loved the Giants, books, and travelling. Regina converted him to everything “Jersey”. He took his wife, Regina and his beautiful daughters on many memorable vacations, many of which were spent at the Jersey Shore. Ed had wonderful memories over the years spent with his family.
Ed (Unc.) also leaves behind cherished fun times he spent with his many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be sent to the Benevolent Societies of the Nutley Police, Fire, and EMT Departments.

Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley, on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 2pm – 4pm. The Funeral Service will take place at 2:00pm. Military Honors will take place at 3:00pm.
