Elizabeth Jane Duffy (nee Jernick), age 94, of Nutley, went home to the Lord on October 5, 2022. Born at home in Newark on April 23, 1928, "Bette" was the daughter of William J. Jernick and Madeline Jernick (nee Strong). She was one of three children along with her two older brothers, William Jernick Jr. who predeceased her, and Dr. Robert Jernick. Somewhat of a tomboy, she always tried to keep up with them. Bette was a graduate of Nutley High School Class of 1946, and as a young woman was employed by Allstate Insurance in Clifton. Her marriage to her husband "Don" was the highlight of her life, and the two remained in love and inseparable for over 70 years. She was especially devoted to her Lord, and treasured her home, her garden (especially blooms of pink, her favorite color), and her family.

Bette is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Donald Duffy, her brother Dr. Robert Jernick and nieces and nephews, Arden Jernick, Jake and Terry Jernick, Judy and Lou Manganiello, Kathy Jernick, Dr. Susan Jernick and Dr. Angie Caliendo, Brian and Nancy Jernick , Bob and Linda Jernick and Karen Mehos. Bette was predeceased by her nephew Bill Jernick and niece, Debbie Jernick. She was also loved by many additional nieces and nephews to whom she was a Great or Great-Great Aunt.

Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Monday October 10, 2022 from 11:30 am to 1 pm.

A Funeral Service will also be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 pm.

Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair.
