Obituary for Erma Mastro (Perillo)

Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother

Erma Mastro, 96, loving wife of the late Domenic Mastro passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Erma and Don were married in 1946 and together created a home full of love, laughter, kindness and generosity.
Loving mother to Rosanne Rocco and her husband, the late Richard Rocco, Don Mastro and his wife, Marjorie, and predeceased by her son Thomas Mastro. Beloved grandmother of Colleen Mastro and her husband, Sebastian, Donnie Mastro and his wife, Hanna, Rachel Mastro and her husband, Tito; Patricia Curtin and her husband, Chris, Judy Rocco and Mary Ann Leuthe and her husband, Don; and loving great-grandmother to Santino, Nico and Rio. She also leaves her sister, Faye Haff, her sister-in-law, Florence Perillo and many other relatives and close friends.
Born in Newark, the daughter of the late Donato and Carmela (Ventre) Perillo, she was predeceased by her brother, Frank Perillo and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Rose Mastro.
Erma was a graduate of Central High School and lived in Newark prior to moving to Nutley 72 years ago.
Erma retired from Georgie-Bonded, Inc. in Newark as a secretary. She was an active communicant at Holy Family Church in Nutley where she was a member and past president of the Rosary Alter Society, a Eucharistic Minister, past Steward of the Month, member and past president of the Catholic Daughters of America, a member of the Parish Council and volunteered at the Holy Family Italian Festival. Erma also volunteered with the Nutley Special Young Adults, the Election Board in Nutley, was a member of the Mattia Award Committee, the Golden Age Club, the Nutley Seniors Tuesday Club, the Nutley Senior Service Friday Club, the Belleville Senior Club, the Deborah Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Essex County Geriatric Family Council.

The funeral will be Saturday, October 27th at 9:30 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church at 10:30 a.m.

The interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 4-8 p.m.
