Obituary for Ernest Capalbo

Owner of Ernie’s Amoco Station, Korean War veteran
Ernest Capalbo of Nutley passed away on Friday September 1, 2017. Born and raised in Belleville, he was the son of the late Gennaro and Macolata (Corino) Capalbo. Ernie came to Nutley 60 years ago and was the owner of Ernie’s Amoco before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Nutley AMVETS Post 30 and the Stuart E. Edgar VFW Post 493. He was also a member of the Nutley Chapter of UNICO, the St. Mary’s Council Knights of Columbus and the Old Guard of Nutley.
Ernie leaves his beloved wife Frances (Di Cioccio) Capalbo, his daughters, Karen Lombardi and husband, Vincent, Lynn Fanelli and husband, Albert and his grandchildren, Jason, Olivia and Ariana Lombardi and Daniel, Alyssa and Alexander Fanelli. He was the dear brother of the late Santa De Lucca, Lee Petachuconis, Rose La Luna and Lucy Del Vecchio and brother-in-law of Gerald and Dr. Kathleen Bissell and Nick Del Vecchio.
Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St. Nutley on Tuesday September 5 at 9:30 am.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Nutley at 10:30 am followed by entombment at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visiting will be at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 & 6-9 pm.
