Obituary for Evelyn Ruppell

Evelyn Ruppell of Nutley, New Jersey, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 24. She passed away peacefully, in the comfort of the house where she lived for the past 64 years.

Born July 30, 1925 in Nutley, she attended nursing school, before marrying her husband Charles in 1944, and raising their five children. She and her husband were wed for 66 years until his death in 2010. Always an active member of her church, she taught Sunday school, pioneer girls club and volunteered for a variety of church activities. A longtime member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Montclair, She remained a strong financial supporter of the church’s missionary program.

She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Charles, daughter Patricia, and brother William.

Surviving is her sister Mildred VanValkenburg of Saugerties, NY, Sons; Peter (Mary Ann) of Greermount QE, James (Judith) of Barnegat N.J., David (Joyce) of Pojac Point, R.I. And Timothy (Rhea)of Nutley, NJ. She has 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

A voracious reader, she lived in a home full of books and took interest in current affairs. She was a gardener and home 3repair hobbyist. She loved her family and prayed for each member daily. She will be remembered for her faith, her thrift, and her intelligence.
