Obituary for Frances D. Capalbo

Loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt & Grandmother

Frances D. Capalbo, 85, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 – on the four year anniversary of her beloved husband Ernie’s death. Frances was a lifelong resident of Nutley and was known to others for her care and kind-heartedness. She strove to make everyone around her feel loved, and she loved to laugh. Frances had a passion and talent for baking and found joy in bringing her cookies and cakes to family and
friends near and far. She had a generous heart and spirit and was cherished by every one who knew her.

Frances was the daughter of Dominick and Mecha DiCioccio. She was born in Passaic at St. Mary’s Hospital, attended Lincoln Elementary School and had a deep love for her hometown of Nutley. While in school as a young girl, she helped out at her family’s candy store which was located on Bloomfield Ave. After graduating from Nutley High School, she worked for many years at Van Dyk and Co. in Belleville.

Frances was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Capalbo and her sister, Dr. Kathleen Bissell. Frances is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Vince Lombardi and Lynn and Albert Fanelli, and her grandchildren, Jason, Ariana, Olivia, Daniel, Alyssa, and Alexander, as well as her nephew and niece, James and Dominique Bissell.

The funeral will be on Wednesday, September 8th at 9:30am from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Nutley at 10:30am.

The entombment will follow at Glendale Cemetery and Mausoleum in Bloomfield.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 7th from 4-8pm.
