Obituary for Frances M. DeVito (Alfano)

Frances M. DeVito, 99, formerly of Newark and Bloomfield. Born in Rockford, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Vita (Bordonara) Alfano. Growing up in Rockford, Illinois, Frances played softball and enjoyed bowling and gardening. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and was also a world traveler. She was buyer at BASF Corp. in Clifton before retiring and played Santa Clause each year at BASF’s annual Christmas party. Prior to working for BASF, she was part owner of D’Amico Italian Deli in Newark.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Domenic D’Amico and her son, John D’Amico, she is survived by her daughter, Ann De Medici and husband, James Miele and her grandchildren, Dena Winick and her wife Staphanie, Tracey Nardachone, Nicolette D’Amico and her great grandchildren, Alexandra, Nick, Natalie, Ryan, Cassie and Jayden. Frances was the sister of the late Frank, Luca, Barney, and Joseph Alfano, she also leaves her dear sister-in-law Ann Alfano and many nieces and nephews. Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Friday April 9 from 4-7 pm.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 am followed by entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
