Obituary for Frances M. "Fran" Kissel

Frances M. Kissel (“Fran”) of Edison, NJ passed away following complications from illness on the morning of January 27 in Edison.

Fran was born in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Nolan L. Kissel and Mary F. (Lomauro) Kissel. Fran grew up in New Jersey, graduated from Nutley High School and The Berkeley Secretarial School and obtained an Associates Degree from Seton Hall University. Fran had a long career at Prudential Life Insurance Company in administrative and paralegal roles before working in the New Jersey State Judicial System before her retirement.

Fran lived a joyful life with friends and family being a central focus. She was always thoughtful, generous and enjoyed laughing with family and friends. Her role as the go to person on matters of family history is legendary. Enjoying travel, a play, a concert or dinner with those she loved always brought joy to Fran. It is only fitting she is survived by a large family who now grieve her loss but smile at many wonderful memories. Fran is survived by eight siblings, their spouses and significant others and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Surviving siblings are Henry (Marianne) Kissel of Bloomfield, NJ, Cecilia (John) Bertonaschi, also of Bloomfield, Frank (Anne) Kissel of Chapel Hill, NC, Joan (Robert) Miller of Highland Lakes, NJ, Tony (Debbie) Kissel of Spring, TX, Rosie (Paul) Ayick of Davie, FL, John (Robbin Krauszer) Kissel of Mount Laurel, NJ and Jim (Elizabeth Golden) Kissel of East Brunswick, NJ.

We will all miss Fran terribly but will find the love and joy together she would always encourage.

The funeral will be Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle in Bloomfield at 9:30 a.m.
