Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great- Grandmother

Freda (Fortunata)LaTorto -Maccarone, 95 of Bloomfield passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019. Born in Warsaw New York and the daughter of Peter and Dominica Romeo-LaTorto, Freda lived most of her life in Bloomfield, New Jersey with her beloved husband of 69 years Russell Maccarone, and their three children Jack, Rosanne, and Peter.

Freda started her career working as a secretary for Otis Elevators and spent much of her life dedicated to the church. She was a member of the Columbiettes and volunteered at St. Francis Parish. She enjoyed extracurricular activities such as bowling, dancing, basketball, bingo and taking day trips to Atlantic City with her friends. Freda was an extraordinary woman who maintained her independence by remaining active, living on her own and driving up until she was 95.

She was one of 6 sisters and is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Children: son Jack and his wife Judy Maccarone, daughter Rosanne and her husband John Conrado and son Peter Maccarone. Grandkids: Michael Maccarone, Alison Maccarone, Katelyn Maccarone, Matthew Conrado, Austen Conrado, Nicole Maccarone-Cruz, Peter Maccarone Jr., Gianna Maccarone. Great-Grandkids: Viana Cruz, Giada Cruz, and Brian Maccarone.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Newark at 10 a.m.

The entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in No. Arlington

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
