Genevieve M. McCutcheon, of Nutley, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Mary (Hynes) Harte. A graduate of St. Savior High School, she lived in Brooklyn prior to moving to Nutley 55 years ago. Gen was Secretary to the Principal of Radcliffe Elementary School in Nutley for many years, after which she moved onto Hoffman La Roche in Nutley.
Genevieve enjoyed reading, family vacations to Cape May Point and events and trips with her “Crazy Ladies” and high school friends. She was truly interested and cared about all the people she met. She had a keen sense of style and an eye for design.
Throughout her life she was an advocate for her church, blood donation and the environment. She ran the blood drive at St. Mary’s up into her 80’s and was still active with the St. Mary‘s Rosary Society as well as her Bridge group.
Her heart was always in the right place and whatever the outcome she meant well.
The beloved wife of the late John F. McCutcheon, she is survived by her daughters, Mary R. Rager and her husband, Dennis and Hope M. Congson and her husband, John; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Danielle, Timothy, Rose, Reagan and Andrew; 11 great-grandchildren and her sister, Dorothy McKenna.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Nutley at 10:45 a.m.

The cremation services will be private.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Friends of the Nutley Public Library, 93 Booth Drive or St. Mary’s Church Food Pantry, 17 Monsignor Owens Place, Nutley, N.J. 07110 would be preferred.
