Obituary for Gerald G. Vernice

Gerald G. Vernice, 79, of Wharton, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021. Born in Newark, NJ Gerald was the son to Vincent and Lucy (St. Peter) Vernice. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1965-1971.
After college Gerald began his career at Warner Lamber in Morris Plains. He then went to Hoffman LaRoche in Nutley. Then he went to BOC/ Anaquest in Merry Hill and Givudan in East Hanover. He had also been an adjunct professor at Bergen Community College, a tutor at the Huntington Learning Center, and currently taught Chemistry at Sussex Community College. Gerald Lived in Wharton for 3 years. Prior to moving to Wharton, he lived in Mt Arlington, Elmwood Park, and Nutley. He received his undergrad degree from St. Peter’s University and his master’s degree at Fairleigh Dickenson University. He belonged to the Mount Arlington Counsel KOF, Men’s prayer group at Holy Family Church in Nutley, where he was also a Eucharistic Minister. He had served on the Holy Family School Board of Education. He was a former Boy Scout Leader at Holy Family Church, and member of MAMRE.


Gerald is survived by his beloved wife Judith L. (Goehs) Vernice, children Jeffrey Vernice and his wife Stephanie, Christina Sabin and her husband Keith, Patricia Izzo and her husband Paul, and Angela Moylan and her husband Michael, and 7 grandchildren Anthony Izzo, Kaylie Sabin, Olivia Izzo, Ryan Sabin, Liam Moylan, Connor Moylan, and Sabrina Vernice.


The funeral will be on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 10:30am from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30am at Holy Family Church 28 Brookline Avenue Nutley, NJ 07110.

Cremation will be private.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 23rd from 4-8pm.
