Obituary for Giacento John La Fiura

Giacento John LaFiura, 82, formerly of Jackson, passed away on Saturday March 18, 2023. Born and raised in Newark, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Angelina (Lefand) LaFiura. John was a mechanic and truck driver before retiring. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary F. (DeFillipo) LaFiura in 2013, John is survived by his loving children, Belinda Esteves and husband John, Debbie Davis and husband Eric, John LaFiura and wife Stephanie and Kim Ondesko and husband Chris, his grandchildren, Marisa, Johnny and Joey, his great grandchildren, Samantha, Liliana and Jaxson and his many grand-furbabies. John also leaves his brother Michael LaFiura and wife Donna, his sisters, Gerolama Tuosto and husband Mike, Phyllis Miller and husband James, and Angelina LaFiura.

John touched many people with his great personality and gift for gab. He enjoyed conversation with everybody and had a solid memory for the people he talked to and their stories. He would remember those stories for the next time he saw you, even if it had been years since you last met. John was a hard worker all his life, often working many jobs at once to support his family. He was very proud of his family and took an active role with his wife in helping to raise their grandchildren. He owned many cars and trucks throughout his life that he took great pride in taking care of and driving.

Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Wednesday March 22 from 4-8 pm.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday March 23 at 11:00 am followed entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice (www.karenannquinlanhospice.org).
