Gloria Avallone Cosgrove passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the St. Joseph’s Healthcare & Rehab facility in Cedar Grove. Born in Belleville on April 23, 1920, Gloria spent her childhood on Summer Avenue in Newark with her sisters and a large and loving family. Gloria worked for the government during the wars and then moved to Belleville with her husband in the late fifties. She then worked for the Belleville school system well into her 70’s. Cosgrove, Jr. Gloria is survived by her son Thomas J. Cosgrove and his wife Jane Falkenstern.
Gloria was loved by all that met her, worked with her, spent time with her. She was a highly religious person (Roman Catholic) and supported herself and everyone she met with her faith. Gloria and her husband Tom led a good life and Gloria took great care of Tom during his final years. She enjoyed her extended family and the many Sunday dinners with all the relatives. Her last two years in the nursing home were good ones, with Gloria taking care of other residents even in her advanced age and having many friends in the home, both residents and staff alike. She met Peggy in the home early on and they became best friends.
