Obituary for James C. Soldo

James C. Soldo,101, of Nutley, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.
Born in Newark, he was the son of the late William and Lucy ( Raimondo) Soldo.
Before coming to Nutley in 2010, James lived in Belleville for more than 60 years where he was the Superintendent of Public Works for the Township of Belleville before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II as part of the Medical Detachment at Camp Kilmer, NJ. Jim is survived by his wife of 79 years Teresa (Curcione) Soldo whom he often referred to as “Terri Terrific”. They enjoyed many years of travel in Asia, Europe especially Italy and cruises. His quick wit and stories were a source of enjoyment.

Jim’s interest in music especially jazz and Sinatra developed while in high school. He spent many hours converting his 75 rpm’s to cassettes and then to CDs. He also was often searching for recipes to add to his collection, especially for Italian food. Always a reader, he was sometimes referred to as Mr Jeopardy.
But above all else was the love and support he gave to his family. This was the most important part of his life.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Lucille Hunkele and her husband Frank(Rick); James Soldo and his wife Heidi; his grandchildren, Frank Hunkele and wife, Dana; Marisa Bloom and husband, Eric; Brian Soldo and wife Jill; Christine Brown and husband ,Kyle. He also leaves 7 great grandchildren: Sofia and Benjamin Bloom; Frankie and Alexandra Hunkele; and Madison, Emily and Parker Brown. James was dear brother to Rose Soldo of Belleville and Joseph Soldo of California; plus many nieces and nephews.

Visitors will be received at the S.W.Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Center St. Nutley on Sunday April 3,2022 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church, Belleville on Monday, April 4,2022 at 11 am followed by entombment at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
