Obituary for Jean A. Lupo

Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother

Jean A. Lupo, of El Sobrante, CA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at her home. Born in Brooklyn, New York on August 1, 1918, she was the daughter of Carmine and Concetta (Cifrodella) Deluca, formerly of Laviano, Italy.
When Jean was five, the family moved to Meacham Street in Belleville, New Jersey. She graduated from Belleville High School in 1936 and was employed as a secretary. In 1945 Jean married James Vincent Lupo. Together they raised three children. Jean stayed at home to raise her children but later returned to work. She worked for the State of New Jersey Employment Department for 15 years.
She was a member of the Belleville Seniors Thursday Group, the Belleville Chapter of the AARP and the Sassy Seniors at Holy Family CHurch in Nutley where she was an active communicant.
After her husband died, Jean continued to live in the house she grew up in on Meacham Street. In 2004 Jean sold her home and moved out to California to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Jean turned 100 years old on August 1, 2018.
The beloved wife of the late James V. Lupo, Sr., she is survived by her children, Linda Wong and her husband, Wilbur, James Lupo and his wife Lynn Boardman, and Carl Lupo and his wife, Mary Abidiwan Lupo; six grandchildren, and eight grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Susan Lia, and three brothers, Charles, Valentino, and Joseph Deluca.
She will be remembered by her family with great fondness. Her kindness, generosity, and independent spirit will live on in their hearts.

The funeral will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Nutley at 10:30 a.m.

The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in No. Arlington

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
