Obituary for Jennie M. Pucci (Farruggia)

Jennie M. Pucci, 97 of Nutley, passed away on Sunday March 8, 2020. Born in Newark, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jennie (Torrenti) Farruggia. Mrs. Pucci lived in Belleville before coming to Nutley 58 years ago. She was a seamstress with Schwartz & Mandel Corp. in Newark before retiring to raise her family.
Jennie’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. A truly selfless individual, her first concern was always about others. She was an avid reader who often times could be found at the library and loved keeping up with current events. Well into her 90’s, Jennie continued to walk throughout Nutley and never found a person with whom she couldn’t strike up a conversation. She loved tending to her garden and had a special place in her heart for her cats.

She was a long-time member of the Nutley Seniors Social Club, the Tuesday and Friday Clubs of Nutley, and the Friends of the Nutley Public Library. Jennie is survived by her beloved husband of 72 years, Charles Pucci, her children, Thomas Pucci and wife, Michele, Russell Pucci and wife, Margaret, Fred Pucci and wife, Sharon, and Beverly Vollaro and husband, Dave. She also leaves her 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

The family will be receiving those wishing to pay their final respects at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Thursday, March 12th from 4-8pm.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Nutley at 9:30am on Friday, March 13th.

Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nutley Volunteer Emergency & Rescue Squad (www.nutleyrescue.org) or Friends of the Nutley Public Library (www.nutleypubliclibrary.org).
