Obituary for Jerilynn Gilbert (Amorosi)

On Saturday, July 4, 2020, Jerilynn Amorosi Gilbert died peacefully in her sleep. It was fitting that she left this earth on the day we celebrate freedom. She is now free from pain and able to rest in peace!!

Jerilynn was a lifelong resident of Belleville and a graduate of the Belleville High School Class of 1985. Everyone who knew Jerilynn knew she had a heart as big as the full moon!!! She loved her family but mostly, she had a fierce love for her beautiful daughters.

There are so many things we will miss besides her big, big heart. Not only was she beautiful inside and out, but her sense of humor. . .she was never stingy with laughter. She had the most incredible laugh which helped us get through the most serious matters. She had an effortless way of making friends and communicated with everyone! She treated everyone the same, with love and kindness!!!

Jerilynn loved family trips to Broadway. She could be heard kidding around or singing with her daughters, sisters or mom, dancing around the house, on the softball field with friends back in the day, enjoying a movie snuggled up with one of her daughters but she also enjoyed sunning poolside and playing many, many games of backgammon. She was an avid and lucky scratch-off fan!!!

Jerilynn was loved by so, so many and leaves so many behind. Her precious daughters, Michelle Margaret Gilbert, Rachel Ann Gilbert and Jessica Lynn Gilbert, and her “other daughters”, Nicole Mesce and Danielle Mesce; her loving mother, Rae Ann Raffiella Dolly Amorosi; her siblings and their spouses, Melinda and Michael Edmundson, Dr. Joe and Margret Follo and Jay and Alicia Amorosi. Also left behind were many others including Raymond Gilbert, the father of her daughters; Vic, Maggie and Baby Emma Mesce and grandfurbabies Nicki, Archie, Leila and Blue.

Jerilynn was greeted by many as she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge including her precious daughter Krista, her loving nephew, Dominick Mesce; her father, Gerald Amorosi, and her aunt Angela Rubbone.

A wake will be held in Jerilynn’s honor on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 between the hours of 3pm-7pm at the S.W. Brown Home for Funerals located at 267 Centre Street in Nutley, New Jersey. We know Jerilynn was loved by many and all are encouraged to visit but please wear a mask and enter/exit through the front door, located on Centre Street. In these unprecedented times, we are unable to hug, kiss or handshake but we are sure the feeling of love and comradery will overcome that little detail.
