Jesus Rodríguez, 90 of Newark passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Born in Las Villas, Cuba, the son of José and Delfina Rodríguez, he arrived in the Unites States on January 1970, under the Freedom Flights effort (Puente Aereo).
He was a small business owner in the Newark community, until retirement 10 years ago. He was a member and served as secretary for many years of Masonic Esperanza Lodge, Union City. Jesús was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Newark where he was a Deacon and held and served in various other important capacities. More recently he had been attending the First Hispanic Presbyterian Church of Newark.
Jesus is survived by his beloved wife, Elda Rodríguez; 2 daughters, Lis Padrón and Odalys “Dolly” Carreño; 4 grandchildren, Manny Padrón, Andrew Fernández Padrón, and Adriel and Erin Carreño; and his great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Elliott and Nora. Abuelo will be greatly missed.
Visitors will be received on Friday, January 2020 between 4 – 8 PM at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley, NJ.
The funeral services will commence at 6:30 PM.
The interment at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield will be on Saturday, January 11,
2020.
The funeral procession will be leaving from the funeral home promptly at 11 a.m.
