Obituary for John A. Bell

Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great-Grandfather
John A. Bell, of Belleville, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at his home. Born in Newark, the son of the late John H. & Adeline (McCrea) Bell, he lived in Newark prior to moving to Belleville over 70 years ago. He retired as a foreman from Wallace & Tiernan in Belleville. He was an Army Veteran, serving towards the end of World War II.
John was an accomplished Saxophone & Clarinet player and was previously a member of 3J’s Band. While serving in the Army, he played in the U.S. Army Band. He was also a member of the Old Guard of Nutley, an avid bowler and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Diane (Yanuzzi) Bell; four children, John T. Bell & his wife, Joann, Michael C. Bell, Kathleen Rossi and Brian S. Bell & his wife, Jennifer; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Bell; his sister, Joan Lukowiak; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Daniel J Bell; a son-in-law, Raymond Rossi and one grandchild.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Nutley at 10 a.m.
The entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in No. Arlington
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Barnabas Hospice, 95 Old Short Hills Rd, 1st Floor, West Orange, NJ 07052 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
