Obituary for John Lindsay

WWII Navy Veteran & Supervisor at Hoffman La Roche

John Lindsay, 93 of Belleville, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019. Born in Hillsboro, IL, the son of the late Hugh P. and Flora (Peacock) Lindsay, he was a lifelong resident of Belleville.
Prior to his retirement, John retired as a Plant Maintenance Supervisor from Hoffman La Roche in Nutley. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. After the war he attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, He was a trustee at the North Jersey Elks Developmental Disabilities Agency, past Exalted Ruler of the Pompton Lakes BPOE #1895 and the Copestone Masonic Lodge in Kearny.

The beloved husband of Rita (Liddy) Lindsay and the late Marie (Blaser) Lindsay, he is the father of Craig B. Lindsay and his wife, Mie, Kim M. Nuckel and her husband, Thomas, and Karen E. Mathewson and her husband David; step-father to David J. Pereles and his wife, Rhonda, Susan R. Zoino and her husband, Nino and Keith M. Pereles and grandfather to, Jesse Nuckel, Sara Mathewson, Alys Lindsay, Emily and Jack Pereles and Nicholas and Zachery Zoino.

The funeral will be Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 9:45 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Nutley at 10:45 a.m.

The interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
