Obituary for John A. Marotti

Retired Belleville Detective

John A. Marotti, of Belleville, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at his home. Born in Newark, the son of the late Celia (Rizza) and Rocco Marotti, he lived in Newark prior to moving to Belleville 61 years ago.
John retired from the Belleville Police Department as a Juvenile Detective and was a member of the Belleville PBA #28. He was also a Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the Belleville AMVETS Post #26.
He served an usher at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Belleville for over 60 years and was an avid bowler and golfer.
The beloved husband of the late Antoinette (DeBonis), he is survived by his sons, Rocco and Michael Marotti and his sister, Rita Driza. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Michael V. Marotti.

The funeral will be Monday at 8:30 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Belleville at 9:30 a.m.

The interment will follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
