Obituary for John E. McGeown

John E. McGeown, 57 of Nutley, passed away on Thursday March 2, 2023. Born in Newark, he was the son of Robert and Francine (LaPica) McGeown. John was raised in Belleville and lived in West Orange before coming to Nutley 25 years ago. He was the owner of Royal Flush Sewer and Drain Cleaning Service and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Within the last year, John found his true calling and love for painting, leaving behind a beautiful portfolio of paintings for his family and friends to enjoy. If you knew John, you knew the kind soul he had, and loved to talk to anyone and everyone. His presence will truly be missed in this world, along with the impact he made on so many. John is survived by his beloved wife Kim (Farrell) McGeown, his loving children, Kaitlin Vinch, husband Joseph and Bre McGeown. Along with his parents, Robert and Francine, John also leaves his brother, Robert McGeown and wife Robyn, his sister Christine DiModica and husband, Bob, nieces and nephews, and mother-in-law Ruthann Farrell. He will be missed by his fur babies Brandi, Willow, Gracie, Piggy-Man, and grand-pup Loki. He was finally reunited with Jasmine.

Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Tuesday March 7 from 4-8 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday March 8 at St. Mary’s Church, Nutley at 10:30 am followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
