Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather
John R. Vastola, 82 of Bloomfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. Born in New York, NY, the son of Salvatore and Anna (Bedetto) Vastola, he grew up in the Bronx and lived in Somerville prior to moving to Bloomfield 5 years ago.
John retired from Magnolia Beef Co. in Elizabeth as a meat salesman. He was also a proud Navy Veteran.
The beloved husband of the late Joan Mary (Seymour) Vastola, he is survived by his daughters, Rima Sisco and Laura Chichizola and her husband, Thomas;his step-children, Carolyn and Michael Engerud; 3 grandchildren, Victoria Chichizola. Savina Sisco and Conner Chichizola and a sister. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his step-son, Jeffrey Engerud.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley at 10 a.m.
The interment will follow at St. Bernard Church Cemetery in Bridgewater.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
