Obituary for Jose "Pechie" A. Lopez
Jose Ambrocio Lopez, 84 of Nutley, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023, peacefully at his home in the presence of family. Jose, known to family and friends as Pechie, was born in Sampoloc, Manila Philippines. He was the son of the late Gavino and Patronila (Ambrocio) Lopez.
Jose received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from The Manuel L. Quezon University, Manila, Philippines in 1962. He worked in the pharmaceutical industry at Pharma in Liquids, Cream and Ointments. At Pharma, Jose met his beloved wife Leoba, and married in 1970. Jose emigrated to the United States in 1972. They first lived in Jersey City before coming to Nutley in 1976. Jose was employed as a chemical operator at various leading pharmaceutical companies, Block Drug, American Cyanamid, Cosan, Hoffman LaRoche in Totowa, and Hatco Corp before retiring. He was a member of the Old Guard of Nutley and along with his wife Leoba was a member of the Nutley Seniors Friday Club.
For Pechie, his family was everything, he is survived by his beloved wife, Leoba (Uy Vendiola) Lopez, his wife of 53 years and his daughters, Ruby E. Lopez and Pearl Anne Lopez. He was also the dear brother of the late Elvira Lopez, Delfin Lopez, and Miriam Paragas.
VISITATION: Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St. Nutley on Thursday February 16 from 4:00 PM -8:00 PM. The Old Guard of Nutley will be conducting a service at 4:30 PM
SERVICE: A service will be conducted at the funeral home, SW. Brown & Son Funeral Home (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St. Nutley on Friday February 17 at 11:00 AM
followed by entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
