Joseph A. Grappone, 85

Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather

Joseph A. Grappone, of Rutherford, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late John and May (Campbell) Grappone, he lived in Brooklyn and Long Island prior to moving to Rutherford 48 years ago.
Prior to his retirement, Joseph worked as a pipefitter for Passaic General Hospital in Passaic. Previously he worked for Hoffman La Roche in Nutley. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a former Little League Coach in Rutherford.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia (Spiezio) Grappone; his daughter, Janine Kordas and her husband, Robert; his son, John J. Grappone; his granddaughter and the love of his life, Alexis Kordas and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Jean Ersalesi and Mary Grella and his brothers, Edward Smith and John P. Grappone.

The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The Funeral Will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Rutherford at 10:30 a.m.

The entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in No. Arlington.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter (www.alz.org/nj) would be appreciated.
