Joseph G. Valvano, 94
Devoted husband, father and grandfather, U.S. Army veteran

Joseph G. Valvano of Clifton, passed away on Sunday February 19, 2023. Born and raised in Newark, he was the son of the late Joseph and Nancy (Pettite) Valvano, Mr. Valvano lived in Nutley and Belleville before coming to Clifton, 21 years ago and was a sales representative with Panel Graphic in Caldwell before retiring. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served as a radio operator in Germany during the Korean War and was a member of VFW Post 293 in Nutley, and a graduate of Seton Hall University.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor (Murphy) Valvano, his children, Joseph Valvano and his wife, Cheryl Lynn, James Valvano, John Valvano and his wife, Dr. Mary Valvano, Peter Valvano and Nancy Augelli and her husband, Christopher. He also leaves his grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Grace and Gwen Valvano and Nicholas and Allison Augelli. Joseph was the dear brother, Rose Rees and the late Angelo Valvano.
Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Saturday February 25 at 9:30 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Nutley at 10:30 am followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday February 24 from 3-7 pm
