Obituary for Josephine Villano (Gallo)

Matriarch, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Josephine Villano (Gallo), of Belleville, passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2022, at the age of 99. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Marie (Russo) Gallo. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, George Villano. A longtime resident of Newark, she moved to Belleville in 1951 where she raised her family and was a member of St. Mary's Church in Nutley. Josephine and George retired to Florida many years ago, where she was active in both the community and the church. She returned to Belleville after George passed to be close to her family. She is survived by her five loving sons Dennis and partner Peggy, Joseph G. and his wife Kathy, George, Kenneth G. and his wife Karen, and William G., brother Anthony Gallo and his wife Doris, former daughters in law Isobel Villano and Robin Montelbano. Josephine was also the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter in law Janet Villano, and her five sisters and four brothers.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, October 23rd from 2-6 pm.

Funeral service at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre Street, Nutley on Monday, October 24th at 11am. Interment will follow at the Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
