Obituary for Juanita Quiles (Velez)
Juanita Quiles, 78 of Newark passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019. Born in Lares, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Juan A. and Monserate (Lopez) Velez, she moved to Newark 68 years ago.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Manuel Quiles; 5 children, Luz N. Quiles, Manuel Quiles, Jr., Ivan Quiles and his wife, Leisa Quiles, Juan A. Quiles and Ednita Quiles-Pabon and her husband, Ernesto Pabon; 5 sisters, Carmen, Camelia, Nelida, Haydee and Maria I. Velez and her brother, Mariano Velez. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Yalitza, Jonathan, Valerie Montalvo, Glendaliz, Manuel, Steven, Piper, Johnnie, Shea, Selena, Elijah, Jasmine, Hannah Quiles and Yanelly, Madelynne, Yadier Pabon and her great grandchildren, Yandel, Jaziel Villanueva, Arianna Lopez and Adrien Vargas. Along with her parents, Juanita was predeceased by her sisters, Angelita, Tomasia and Julia Velez and 3 brothers, Miguel, Damian and Manuel Velez.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark at 10:30 a.m.
The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Thursday and Friday from 4-8 p.m.
