Obituary for Karl Greengrove

Karl Andrew Greengrove was born on August 8, 1965 in Belleville, New Jersey and passed away on April 3, 2024 after a short illness. Karl was only 58 years of age.

Karl is survived by his furbaby Khloe and his father James B. Greengrove of Nutley NJ. The youngest of four siblings he is also survived by his brother Keith and his wife Lisa of Rolling Hills Estates CA, sister Kate and her husband Art of Raleigh NC, and sister Kris and her husband Jimmy of Glen Ridge NJ. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Carson and Owen Greengrove, Eva and Ella Greengrove, who was also his God daughter, and Anton Martino. Karl was predeceased by his husband Ulises Robles and his mother Dorothy L. Greengrove. He was loved by many friends and family members. Karl lived most of his life in Nutley NJ but enjoyed summers in Ortley Beach, NJ and anywhere a cruise boat could take him.
After graduating from Nutley High School in 1983, Karl studied Art History at Kean University in Union NJ graduating in 1987. He worked side by side with his father at the family business, Pro Lumber and Hardware in Belleville, NJ, until it was sold in 1999. He then held a variety of positions in the NYC antique world and was most recently employed to manage the warehouse at All Seasons Movers in Kearny NJ. After the passing of his mother, he devoted himself full time to the care of his father. Like his mother he was a member of the Nutley Historic Restoration Trust devoted to the preservation of the Kingsland Manor.

Karl’s departure from this earth comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by his family and others who knew and loved him. Karl will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. He will also be remembered for his sarcastic wit and love of the finer things in life, especially antique clocks. He will be missed dearly.
The family appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that in lieu of flowers you make contributions to the Historic Restoration Trust in Nutley NJ and share memories of our beloved Karl on his memory wall. (if posted outside Sam Brown website include) at swbrownandsons.com
