Louise DiDomenico, 96, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Methodist West Hospital in Houston, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Louise graduated from Arts High and went on to raise her family in Bloomfield, New Jersey. She spent most of her later years living at Nutley Parkside Apartments before moving to Katy, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Basilio Ippolito and Maria (Restaino) Ippolito, four brothers and sisters, along with her husband Gerard DiDomenico.
Louise is survived by her beloved daughter Michele Ashley, as well as her two granddaughters Heather Bobrowski and her husband Nicholas, and Meghan Reid and her husband Thomas. She leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren: Olivia, Madeline Louise, and Rhett Bobrowski, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Throughout her life, Louise held positions in many different professions including retail window design in New York City, as well as a variety of clerical and community service work for local establishments- especially the Bloomfield Public School System and St. Francis Xavier Church in Newark.
Louise was known for her volunteer work at many community outreach centers including: Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green, the American Red Cross (Nutley/Bloomfield locations), and The Nutley Family Service Bureau, particularly the Nutley Thrift Shop.
She was affectionately known as “Aunt Lou”, “LuLu Bell”, and “Bird”. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, notorious “one liners”, and her impeccable style. Louise loved to be surrounded by family and close friends, who knew her as caring, dependable, and the life of the party. She will be forever missed, as she was truly one of a kind.
Cremation will be private. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
