Obituary for Lucille A. Alves (Domenick)

Lucille Anne Alves of Lincoln Park, NJ. Beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Alves was born on July 24, 1943 and laid to rest on April 05, 2020 peacefully with her children by her side.
Lucille is survived by her 5 loving children Joseph Schibelli, Suzanne Barrett, Marlaina Sybesma, Pamela Adler, John Schibelli and their families and is predeceased by 2 sons Gerard and Jude. She was most proud of her 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Born to Anthony and Fannie Domenick, raised in Belleville, NJ and the youngest of 9 siblings of which she is survived by her sisters Mildred Cerami, Violet Slater and Vera Cusinelli. She was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Lucille grew up to fulfill her dreams of being a housewife and loving mother. This was all she wanted out of life.
Her passion and therapy was to cook anything and everything, it’s what kept her happy and the stack of recipes could fill a closet. If someone mentioned a favorite dish, you could bet for sure she would cook it up and deliver it the next day. We all had to be very careful what we said to her because one would gain 40 pounds that month – it was the family joke. It has been said that if you gave her a big enough kitchen, all the ovens, KitchenAids and food she requested, she would be able to feed an entire city single handedly and would not stop until there were leftovers for everyone to bring home. The size of her heart and generosity will be hard to match.
Most of all it was her love for everyone that was a part of her life and, with no exception, she spread it around evenly. She made it clear that love should not be measured (you can never run out of it) and that you should give all that is required to who needs it the most. In the time of need or despair, Lucille made sure that those in need were comforted and given everything they needed to make it through. She put herself last, regardless of her pains and needs. She had no regrets – she never complained – she would never tell you. It was her way of teaching us all how to “LOVE”, how to “GIVE” and how to most of all “BE A FAMILY”. We have learned and will continue in her likeness. She has given us so much and will be deeply missed by all that she touched.
On this day she has returned to heaven by the grace of God and will be comforted in the way she has done for so many. May she continue to guide us and be our light. May she rest in peace with all the love and the arms of her children wrapped around her.

In the future, there will be a Funeral Mass and celebration of Lucille's life.
