Obituary

Lucy May Pascale, 87 of Belleville, passed away on Monday April 13, 2020. Born in Passaic, she was the daughter of the late John Jacob and Eliza Jane (Veech) Geary. Mrs. Pascale lived in Passaic before coming to Belleville in 1958. Lucy was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Passaic, serving on the Hospitality Committee and visiting the sick and homebound throughout her lifetime.
Lucy will always be remembered as the heart of her family. No matter the situation, she kept her strong faith and humor as the backdrop of her life. Her family was everything to her, and while her love was immeasurable, the “Lucy look”would come out if we needed some guidance. She was a woman that despite the bumps along her medical road, was always “100 percent”. She will be missed that, plus so much more. Her message of “I love you more than you will ever know” will be etched in our hearts forever.
Lucy is survived by her beloved husband, of 65 years, Joseph V. Pascale. Her true north. He was there for her every step of the way, never wavering. He walked her home on their first date, he walked her home on her last earthly night. Also surviving are her children, Joseph John Pascale, Jane Marie Pascale and Andrew Richard Pascale and wife, Terry. She was also the loving grandmother of Josh, Jeremy, Kailey, Jessica, Sarah, Stephanie, Jacqueline, Andrew and the late Ryan and was the dear sister of the late Andrew, John and Charles Geary and sister-in-law of Richard Pascale.
No one in Christ says goodbye for the last time. So we will say, as Lucy taught us, “love you more than you will ever know, and we’ll see you later”.
Services for Lucy and burial at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA of New Jersey Hospice (www.vnannj.org) or to Methodist Homes (www.umcommunities.org).

For our life-long friends, the Pascales. We shared many special times together. Church dinners, trips, drop in lunches and a call just to see how everything was. My mom, Ethel Ludvik, loved Lucy like a sister. I would love to know half the antics they shared during their life long friendship. When mom met Dad, Lucy asked her how did she know he was the one? Mom's answer was, you just know....When Lucy met Joe, she was so excited as she told Mom, HE is the one! Lucy and Joe always made time to call or visit, even though their life was always full. I will always appreciate Lucy praying with my Dad, when he was so very sick. She had the strongest faith. Until we meet again.. Love always Ethel Ludvik and family.

I remember the “Lucy look”. One day my wife and I stopped by for a visit. I put my coat on the loveseat by the front door. Eventually we all made our way to the dining room table for coffee and Boston cream cake. While we were eating and talking the door bell rang. My Aunt Mae got up and answered the door but nobody was there. She came back to the table and sat down. A few minutes passed and the door bell rang again and again my Aunt Mae got up and went to the door and again nobody was there. Then the door bell rang a third time as my Aunt Mae started to get up I realized it was my phone In my coat pocket that rang. The ring I got for a text sounded the same as the door bell! I laughed and laughed until she gave me the “Lucy look” and all went quite, until we couldn’t hold it anymore and then we all laughed together.

I remember the gossip. We would sit down and she would say “tell me something I don’t know “ and then the gossip would begin! Everybody was fair game.

I remember her laugh. I really enjoyed making her laugh. It made me feel special when she laughed at my silly comments because she was so special to me.
